Concerts & Events

Christ Church is delighted to be able to host a range of concerts and events.

We have both the main church available for concerts, talks, and other large events; and the Lower Mews for smaller events or as a green room.

Christ Church is located only a few minutes walk from the centre of Bath.

Please e-mail concerts@christchurchbath.org to find out more about hiring either space.

Main Church

We are a regular venue for the Bath International Music Festival and have in the past played host to artists such as Joanna MacGregor, the Hilliard EnsembleExaudi and Bath Camerata. Concerts recorded at Christ Church have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and reviewed in the national press. It is also a pleasure to be able to host concerts given by groups from our local community, especially nearby schools and universities.

We are also delighted to host a number of book signings for Topping and Company and have played host to, among others, Tom Holland, Revd Richard Coles, Kate Adie, Simon Sharma, Brian May, Iain Rankin and David Gower.

The main church building can seat a total of 420 people, with many of the seats being in our balcony, which provides excellent acoustics and a good view of the front of the church. In addition to our large main organ, we also have a small chamber organ. Our advanced lighting system can illuminate the inside of the church with any colour we choose, enabling us to create atmospheres suitable for a variety of different events. We can provide kitchen facilities and a green room.

Lower Mews

The Lower Mews is our church hall and is located behind the main church building, on the north side of our site - walk through the car park past the main church entrance to find it.  We use this space for various events and meetings, especially those involving food as there is a well-equipped kitchen.

The Lower Mews is also available for hire. The space consists of an entrance lobby (approx 3m x 4m), the main hall (approx 9.5m x 6.5m), the kitchen (equipped with two hobs, two ovens, two fridges, a dishwasher and a microwave) and a toilet.

The Lower Mews was originally part of Christ Church Infants School, which merged with the nearby St. Andrew's School in 1976.  The Upper Mews was also part of the school and is currently leased to Emily Mander Hair.
